analysis was the best thing I’ve done for myself
in a long time. I only wore black every day. I had
a few shirts with color, but rarely wore them. After
the color analysis, I could understand why -they were

It was so liberating to send the 14 short-sleeved
and 12 long-sleeved black tops that I had to Goodwill
(ok, I did keep 3). I have not worn black since I
had the analysis done, and I feel fabulous. Also –
a funny side note. Every room in my house is painted
in a color from my swatch. Funny how I would gravitate
to those colors for decorating, but not for clothing.

So often before the analysis I would look at myself
in the mirror and just not be happy with what I was
wearing and then change outfits a few times until
I found something I felt more comfortable in. I'd
even gotten rid of clothing items that I really liked
until I put them on! Now I realize that it was the
color that was totally wrong for me. Since I had my
color analysis and have purchased some clothing items

“When I left your shop,
I walked to my car thinking that the colors you recommended
for me were completely wrong. I rarely wore those
colors and I couldn't imagine making such a drastic
change. (Especially since you told me to avoid black.
That was a staple in my wardrobe!) But I decided to
give it a try before tossing the color swatch book
in a drawer. So I went through my closet and found
a few pieces that matched and vowed to work with them
for a few weeks. I also reluctantly decided to avoid
black during that time. This was really hard! After
about 2 weeks of following the new rules, I was feeling
rebelious and put on a black sweater. As I walked
through my house, I glanced into a mirror in passing
and realized I looked very pale and tired. Darn it!
You were right! Black is not my best color. But it
took two weeks of not wearing it to get my eyes to
see the truth. Okay, feeling a bit more confident
in your suggestions, I decided to take my color swatches
on a shopping trip. Now, I love to shop, but a swatch
book with foreign colors is not a good shopping companion.
It was very frustrating to reach for my normal colors
and then put them back when they didn't match any
of the dots. After several hours of shopping at several
stores, I finally settled on a suit and scarf that
seemed to match quite well. Shortly after, I wore
the suit to work. In less than 1 hour, I had 2 different
people tell me how 'wonderful' I looked that day.
I mean, they were emphatic that I looked great. (Made
me wonder how I normally look to them.) A week later
I wore the suit to a family funeral (not exactly the
place where you gather compliments), and again had
several people tell me the same thing. Okay - I'm
sold. You're right. So piece by piece I'm replacing
my wardrobe. Some of the colors in my book work better
than others, but I'm learning my way. Shopping is
not completely pleasurable again, but it's getting
easier. And I've found I can still wear black near
my face as long as I wear something with it like a
jacket or scarf. Basic black does not work! Thanks
